Beyond Resilience

Resilience is defined as an occurrence of rebounding or springing back to original shape or position after deformation.
Is bouncing back and returning to previous form enough in a world that is changing at an unprecedented rate?

Beyond Resilience is a transformational shift for organisations away from 'treating the problem' toward developing a positive, strength based approach.

What is Beyond Resilience?

Vida’s Beyond Resilience Program builds on the latest in evidence based research in Positive Psychology, Psychological Capital, Mindfulness and Neuroscience.  The program develops the internal drivers of human performance enabling organisations to equip employees with the skills, behaviors and attitudes to cope with today’s ever changing work environment and create competitive advantage.

The benefits for any organisation in developing its employees' internal psychological resources and strengths include increased work performance, commitment and satisfaction, and reduced cynicism, absenteeism, presenteeism and stress.

The Beyond Resilience Program incorporates the four dimensions of positive psychological capital proven to build internal resources and strengths for performance.

The program focuses on those capacities that can be measured, developed and effectively managed for performance improvement in the workplace.  These include:

Hope
Hope is defined as a positive motivational state that allows individuals and teams to set challenging goals and achieve them regardless of obstacles and challenges. For individuals to possess hope, they must have goals, short- and/or long-term, the motivation to achieve their goals, and the ability to imagine multiple routes through which their goals may be achieved. With the link between hope and performance well established in various life and work domains, the program provides practical approaches to expanding hope by building skills in 3 types of thinking essential for hope - goal definition, willpower, and pathways.

Confidence
Confidence relates to the general belief one has in their ability to produce high levels of performance and succeed in tasks undertaken in life and/ or work. Although we may assess ourselves as a 'confident person', confidence is really domain specific. So we may feel very confident in areas we have mastered but lack confidence, and therefore be reluctant, to explore growth areas even if they are vital for our success. The program provides a robust toolkit and a solid approach that can be used for developing confidence in any domain.

Optimism
Optimism is defined as anticipating positive outcomes for the future through the deliberate use of explanatory style. Optimism is a future focused state that provides a buffer between the negative impact of unfavourable events and enhances or capitalises on the positive impact of favourable events. The program provides a road map to build pathways for flourishing by developing skills and techniques to decrease negativity and increase positivity.

Bounce
Bounce is defined as rebounding from and excelling in response to uncertainness, adversity and disappointment. Bounce is a future orientated state and provides individuals with the skills required to recover from and flourish in response to previous or present unfavourable events and maintain or exceed the status quo. The program explores ways to develop bounce incorporating physical, emotional, mental and spiritual components.
